Public Policy and Political Islam -

25 March 2010, London:

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, the German Embassy, IPPR and the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation and Political Violence at King's College jointly organised a conference on 'Public Policy and Political Islam'. The event was a one day conference, drawing together politicians, academics and other experts on political Islam to discuss whether and how the domestic and foreign policies of western governments should respond to political Islam in its various manifestations. German speakers included former German Federal Minister of Justice, Prof. Dr. Herta Daeubler-Gmelin, and the Chairman of the German Bundestag's Foreign Affairs Committee, Ruprecht Polenz. Among the British speakers were Baroness Kishwer Falkner, LibDem Spokesperson for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, and Crispin Blunt MP, Conservative Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Counter Terrorism.
